Long past due! And CES!

It has been to long since I have added a post. So, I'll get right down to business here. I just got back from the Consumer & Electronics Show (CES). It's always fun to go whether there are a lot of new ideas and innovations, or kind of a quiet year as I felt it was this year. There was a 150" Plasma Display in the Panasonic booth. And it seemed that "thin" is what the manufacturers are trying to achieve this year with LCD and Plasma tv's.
Now with regards to cell phones. There did not seem to be a big "wow" factor regarding cell phones. Motorola, Samsung, LG, Sony Ericsson, Nokia, Sanyo, and Sharp were all at the show. Those are the main names people know and even the less known ones were there. Some companies are trying to have more than the standard 1.3 to 2.0 megapixel camera on their cell phone. Companies are trying to make the cell phone the all-in-one device: phone, camera, mp3, tv, gps, IM, etc. That would be amazing! There are some other booths and displays that I found informative and will share with you soon. I need to go through all my notes. There was a lot to see and do at CES this year. All in all, it was another good CES. So, until next time keep your cell phones charged.

A little of everything!

Yes I have it. It being the Sidekick LX. When I first picked it up it just didn't feel quite as bulky as previous Sidekicks. Reviews said the screen was brighter, and to me it did seem brighter. Basically it has the same features as the Sidekick 3. There are not many applications in the catalog for the Sidekick LX. I did download the MySpace application. That application is free till the end of the year, then it'll be $1.99 per month after that. I'll decide later if I'm going to keep that application or not.
AT&T has been releasing a lot of new cell phones lately. I like the looks of the "Tilt". For those of you that are into stocks. Virgin Mobile had an IPO and is now trading.
Let me know what features you like on your cell phone. So until next time, keep your cell phones charged.

Just can't live without it.

From my previous post on waiting it has come down to exactly that again. I have come to realize that I need and want two devices. I have always believed in the Sidekick devices from Danger. From the Sidekick color to the Sidekick II and now the Sidekick3. Well, along came the iPhone. I thought back then, OMG...can this be it? A device that can do everything? After getting the iPhone and not using the Sidekick3. Less than a month later, I am back to using both the iPhone and my Sidekick3. I use them both everyday and it's so easy not to be tied to the computer every minute of the day. People can reach me where ever I am. Whether by phone or text messaging or instant messaging on AIM, there I am. So, back to this waiting issue again. The SidekickLX is going to be released on October 24th. Yes, I am waiting for the release. Sharp is the manufacturer for the SidekickLX as they have been for all the previous Sidekicks. The Sidekick Slide is manufactured by Motorola so that will be interesting to see how that is received by the consumers. I will let you know how the waiting goes. Let me know again what technology you love waiting for. So until next time, keep your cell phones charged.

Always waiting!

Seems I am always waiting for something. There are somethings I do
not mind waiting for. Going out to dinner and waiting for 30 minutes
to one hour does not bother me. Then as soon as the waiting involves
technology, time cannot move fast enough. First it was the Sidekick
3. Then the Samsung Blackjack, and then waiting for the iPhone and
the final eight hours of standing in line until I had it in my hands.
Now I am again waiting for the next got to have gadgets. Yes I am an
early adopter, but I wouldn't want to be any other way. Let me know
what you wait for. The next new cell phone, new television, or have
to have the hot new car. So until next time, keep your cell phones
charged.

Not a lot of news and lazy!

I know I haven't updated in a while. There have been some new cell phone released. But there are always some new cell phones being released. Amp'd mobile is no longer in business. That happened a few weeks ago. News has been rather slow and then all of a sudden, POW! Lots of new news. Apple lowered the price of the 8GB iPhone and the 4GB iPhone by $200. And then Apple released the iPod Nano, iPod Classic and the iPod Touch. The iPod Touch is an iPhone without the phone part. It has a touch screen like the iPhone. People were hoping for a larger capacity iPod and Apple released a 160GB iPod Classic. That is a lot of music in your hand. And soon people with the iTouch and iPhone can access the iTunes store via WiFi and download music. Then people can sync back with the computer and the purchased music will be added to your library. That will be cool when it becomes available.
I kind of miss my Sidekick3. I have been able to access AIM on my iPhone, but the AIM on the Sidekick3 is better still I think. Hopefully Apple will have an application for AIM or instant messaging for the iPhone soon. Does anyone out there like the EnV that Verizon has? I like the looks of that phone and have seen a few people with it. I just have not had a chance to try it out. Get back to me with any feedback you might have on that phone. So until next time, keep your cell phones charged.

Multi-Tasking in the Driver's Seat

Sitting here reading the paper and having a cup of coffee. Just trying to scan anything that deals with technology. Looks like Sprint has not done to well this last quarter. As I surf the web and look at some technology web sites, I notice Samsung has some new phones that will be coming out for AT&T and T-Mobile. Verizon lost a little financially due to Ampd Mobile not being able to pay to use the Verizon network.
That was a good coffee. Since I'm online I'm going to see what the forecast is for the next couple of days. It's going to be in the mid 70's for the week. I haven't looked to see what is on television tonight so I will look online for that too. Not a whole lot on television tonight. I love multi-tasking. Drinking coffee. Surfing on the internet and reading the paper. Typing out my blog for the day and all while driving. Isn't that what more and more people are doing? They do everything in the car. Should there be a law that prohibits text messaging while driving? Let me know what you think. Well, I'm home now. Let me turn off the car. So until next time, keep your cell phones charged.

Staying in the game...

Will any other cell phone provider make it? Ampd mobile has closed.
They paid to use Verizon's network. They spent a lot of money on
advertising. Ampd advertised entertainment (mp3, videos, games, etc.)
on your cell phone. Ampd mobile tried but still could not survive.
Can any small cell phone provider survive? Virgin Mobile has been
around for a while and has the experience of Richard Branson. Virgin
Mobile uses the Sprint network and used to advertise quite a lot.
Now, I do not see as much advertising from them. Will one day they be
eaten up by one of the larger cell phone providers?
Cricket Wireless has recently popped up in the Northwest. Everywhere
you looked was advertising for Cricket Wireless. Now there seems to
be nothing. How long before an AT&T, Verizon, Sprint or T-Mobile buy
them up? ESPN Mobile did not survive, they ended up being part of
Verizon Wireless.
Will the private company of Prexar Mobile who bought most of the
assets of Ampd Mobile survive?
Time will tell if smaller cell phone providers can make it or if they
will just be a part of the big four. So, until next time keep your
cell phones charged.
